About the network
NDSN is a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening data stewardship across the Nordic countries. NDSN is not a NeIC organised forum, but NeIC contributes to it and participates in the steering of the network. The initiative was established in 2025 and is hosted by Datice, the University of Iceland’s data service and archive for Icelandic research data.
NeICs participation on NDSN builds on previous engagement since 2013 starting with the Nordic meeting on national strategies for data management, the Nordic data services workshops, the 2017 data management working group followed the 2020 Expert group on FAIR Research Data Management and their two resulting reports, more than 600 people participants in NeIC-organised FAIR data stewardship courses, webinars and hands-on courses, the creation of the FAIRdataforum in 2023 and of top of that a dedicated workpackage on FAIR within our EOSCNordic project with more than 700 data stewardships trained and producing several highly relevant deliverables and reports.
